"As we all know, businesses have been challenged in recent years to adapt to the changing economy, shifts in worker demographics and technological advances that affect the workplace. These same outside forces are also affecting college campuses, resulting in increased or decreased student enrollment, the need for more, fewer or different types of teaching spaces and a need to integrate more closely with the local community. The master plan has become even more important as the embodiment of a college or university’s strategic vision and values. Not only must it provide a roadmap for physical improvements, it must also act as a marketing tool that justifies proposed improvements to the state or potential donors."
